trying to find everything the ice paid attention to before it melts away.
third annual new year’s day drawing, 2019’s emblem of delphinium and ortolan, two fragile but resilient symbols I’ve had on my mind an awful lot lately.
2018’s top nine: y’all liked my sketchbook a whole lot. this was an odd year, I didn’t make much of anything but so much happened. I hope 2019 brings some more balance, and includes many more sketchbook pages filled, small fragile things held, blocks carved, woods explored, and costumes worn, by both humans and dogs. happy new year everyone.
Today is international Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day to honor the lives that have been lost to transphobic violence, and to work towards eliminating these violent outcomes. I’ll be reprinting a limited batch of these 4-block lino prints over the next couple months (not a lot of printing time these days but I’ll make it happen for this!), to claim yours send me a donation receipt for any size donation to: the Transgender Law Center, National Center for Transgender Equality, Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund, The Sylvia Rivera Law Project, The National LGBTQ Task Force, your local LGBTQ Center, or any other resource not on this list that supports the wellbeing of trans individuals (feel free to name useful orgs in the comments so other folks can be aware of them too).
now that it’s been delivered I can share this belated wedding gift for @bumpindanight and sweet marky. love you both, you’re truly darling. 💖

The world’s most perfect creature is a decade old today. I love this old lady more than I have words for. Swipe through for some 🍁Maple Appreciation🍁 including a photo of her delicately eating a birthday cookie at last week’s celebration AND the very first ever photo I have with her from when I met her in her foster home years and years ago. #oldpuppy #pittyparty #maplesamazinglikethestarsinthesky

My little siblings made me feel like a dang queen this weekend. I’m real awkward in front of a camera and don’t take a lot of photos of myself, so this whole experience felt both really playful and luxurious. Photos by my ridiculously talented 14-year-old brother @mitchell.mckays.photography and makeup by equally upsettingly talented sister @carlymckayart. Only thing missing was @mrscmack singing 💖
It feels like it’s been one hundred years since I’ve made anything with my hands, I miss it something awful and am trying to get back to a healthier balance again. I was so grateful to spend the afternoon yesterday playing with wax and ink in my childhood backyard with my siblings by my side, couldn’t ask for a better way to spend the day. much love to @lu.mckay @carly_j_m and @mitchell.mckay 💖

some recent dailies, part 1/2; animal tracks, shells, fish, houses, leafy greens. the 10 switched to a less daunting 5, and while dailies aren’t always truly daily, the practice is steady and true. I’ve invited some pals to take on this challenge with me, accountability goes a long way. thanks pals, you’re real nice.

adventures in terrible hiking footwear: Cuyahoga falls edition. (snapped by a very patient @brantleyreally)
it was a fine weekend.
big wedding feels, big photo dump, big tears big joy big love. I spent as little time with my phone as possible this weekend so I have very few photos, but I’m so glad I snapped these couple of sweet moments. so honored to have stood with you @cathm14. and Fonnie, so thrilled to call you my family now.
