Lichen is a love story.

Lichen is formed when algae and fungi live in symbiosis, creating a new organism that is capable of thriving in ways neither component could alone. This humble life form often grows unnoticed, quietly painting the surface of its host substrate. These samples of lichen, collected from fallen tree bark, are presented here in their unaltered natural beauty. These pieces are cast in an eco-friendly, plant-based polyurethane. Brass halos filled with flaked mica support the bark samples. The natural glittering luster of mica holds and bends light as it passes through. These ear wires are individually handcrafted, cut formed and hammered, from 20g gold plated wire- no two are alike.
